General hardware specifications
This document applies for the following Reasult applications:
- Reaturn Asset Management
- R&A Reaturn Asset Management
In this section, the requirements for the client, the application server, and the database server are listed.
In general, it is possible to run both the application and database on the same server. Also, it is possible to run multiple applications on the same application server and/or database server. However, we strongly advise using separated servers (if applicable) to ensure acceptable performance.
NOTE: if you want to combine more applications from the Reasult suite on the same server, we advise you to contact Reasult for possible setups.
All application and database servers run on Windows Operation Systems. Authentication and authorization are based upon Active Directory.
Client Workstations
Workstations need to adhere to the following requirements:
| Minimum | Recommended |
CPU | I5 or equivalent | I7 or equivalent |
Architecture | X64 | X64 |
Cores | 4 | 4 |
Threads | 4 | 4 |
Memory (1) | 8 GB | 16 GB |
Operating system | Windows 10 Pro | Windows 10 Enterprise edition |
Disk space (2) | 1 GB available | 2GB available |
Screen resolution | 1280X1024 32 bits | 1920X1080 32 bits |
.NET Framework | 4.6 | n.a. |
Client software
Each application can export data or open reports. For these purposes, the software should be able to launch:
- Microsoft Office (Word / Excel) 2016 or higher
- Adobe Acrobat Reader or another compatible PDF Reader
Terminal Services
Reasult software may be used together with Microsoft Windows Terminal Server, Citrix Metaframe and/or VMware Server.
For the best graphical experience, it is recommended to optimize Font Smoothing or ClearType settings.
Application Server
| Minimum | Recommended |
CPU | Intel XEON Silver 4110 | Intel Xeon Gold |
Processor Architecture | X64 | X64 |
Processor Speed | 2.1GHz | 3.5GHz |
Cores
| 4 | 4 |
Threads | 4 | 4 |
RAM Memory (1) | 16 GB | 32 GB |
Hard Disk type | SSD | SSD |
Operating system | Windows Server 2016 | Windows Server 2019 |
Internet Information Services | 10.* | 10.* |
Powershell | 4.0 | 4.0 |
MSMQ | Yes | Yes |
.NET Framework | 4.7.2 | 4.7.2 |
DirectX | 12 | 12 |
Disk space available (2) | 10 GB available | 10 GB available |
For the application server it is generally accepted to use Virtual hardware.
Application server concurrent users
Depending on the application and the number of concurrent users, it is advised to increase the numbers of cores to 8. The desired available diskspace and memory also increases as the number of users increases.
Concurrent users | 0-25 | 26-50 | 51-75 | 76-100 |
Memory available | 10GB | 16GB | 16GB | 16GB |
Cores[1] | 4 | 4 | 8 | 8 |
Database Server Application
| Minimum | Recommended |
CPU | Intel XEON Silver 4110 | Intel Xeon Gold |
Processor Architecture | X64 | X64 |
Processor Speed | 2.1GHz | 3.5GHz |
Cores
| 4 | 4 |
Threads | 4 | 4 |
RAM Memory | 16 GB | 32 GB |
Hard Disk type | SSD | SSD |
Operating system | Windows Server 2016 | Windows Server 2019 |
SQL Server | SQL Server 2016 | SQL Server 2019 |
Database compatibility level | 2012 or higher | 2012 or higher |
.NET Framework | 4.7.2 | 4.7.2 |
Powershell | 5.1 | 5.1 |
Disk volume | 100GB | 100GB |
Disk space available | 100 GB available | 100 GB available |
Databases typically perform better on physical hardware; therefore, we recommend even for the minimal specifications to use real hardware over virtualized hardware.
Database server concurrent users
For performance reasons, it is not necessary to use multiple database servers though it is recommended to use separate servers for acceptance and production.
Database Server Reporting & Analysis (R&A)
| Minimum | Recommended |
CPU | Intel XEON Silver 4110 | Intel Xeon Gold |
Processor Architecture | X64 | X64 |
Processor Speed | 2.1GHz | 3.5GHz |
Cores
| 4 | 4 |
Threads | 4 | 4 |
RAM Memory (1) | 16 GB | 32 GB |
Hard Disk type | SSD | SSD |
Operating system | Windows Server 2016 | Windows Server 2019 |
SQL Server
| SQL server 2016 | SQL server 2019 |
Database compatibility level | 2012 or higher | 2012 or higher |
.NET Framework | 4.7 | 4.7 |
Powershell | 5.1 | 5.1 |
Disk volume[3] | 1 TB | 2 TB |
Disk space available | 100 GB available | 100 GB available |
Databases typically perform better on physical hardware; therefore, we recommend even for the minimum specifications to use real hardware over virtualized hardware.
The requirements for R&A are as follows:
- Microsoft Excel is required for running analysis cubes (pivots) on the R&A database. We advise Excel 2019 for optimized performance.
- To be able to test the R&A templates we need access to an environment where there is Excel available. This could be for example a Citrix or Terminal Server environment. It would be preferred to login on the same environment as the users so that we can test like a regular user.
